SSSQ
SSSQ is a mobile-based safeguarding assessment platform designed for school staff in the UK. Teachers and support staff complete structured safeguarding quizzes on their phones, while supervising staff review results through a secure, authenticated reporting system.
- Role: Mobile app & backend system development
- Platform: Mobile app + secure web reporting
- Focus: Data integrity, assessment logic, confidentiality
The challenge
Safeguarding assessments involve sensitive subject matter and confidential results. The system needed to support mobile-first usage for staff completing quizzes, while providing supervisors with accurate, reliable reporting without exposing personal or sensitive data.
Key challenges included:
- Delivering a clear and accessible quiz experience on mobile devices
- Ensuring results were captured accurately and consistently
- Separating public-facing assessment functionality from confidential reporting
- Supporting supervisory review through a secure, authenticated system
- Designing workflows suitable for users with varying technical confidence
The system needed to be dependable and predictable, prioritising correctness over visual complexity.
The approach
The platform was designed as a two-part system:
- A mobile-friendly quiz application for staff completing safeguarding assessments
- A secure reporting interface for authorised users to review results and progress
Assessment logic is enforced consistently, with progress and results stored centrally. The reporting interface focuses on clarity and accuracy, allowing supervisors to view outcomes without exposing underlying user data or assessment content publicly.
Care was taken to ensure that confidential information remains restricted to authenticated users, while the quiz experience itself remains straightforward and accessible.
What we built
- A mobile-first assessment application for safeguarding quizzes
- Structured question and scoring logic
- Centralised storage of results and progress
- A secure, authenticated reporting interface for supervisors
- Clear separation between public assessment functionality and confidential data
The system is designed to behave consistently and transparently, reducing uncertainty for both participants and administrators.
Our role
We designed and implemented the full system, including the mobile assessment application, backend logic, and secure reporting interface.
Particular attention was paid to data integrity, reliability, and confidentiality, reflecting the sensitive nature of safeguarding assessments and the environments in which they are used.

Outcome
The result is a reliable safeguarding assessment platform that supports mobile-first usage while maintaining strict separation between assessment delivery and confidential reporting.
SSSQ demonstrates our ability to build systems where accuracy, trust, and controlled access are essential, and where the technical solution must support established processes rather than reinvent them.
